Over the last two years, God has stirred us, Mike and McKenzie Sandusky, to plant a church in North Kansas City. When we first came to pray here, we realized that God had already filled our hearts with love for this community and a desire to reach our neighbors and start a church where people are built up in Christ.

    A huge portion of the community has no church home.

    The Northland has grown rapidly over the last decade.

    To keep up with population growth alone, we’d need around 80 churches of 500 people each.

OUR RESPONSE

We aim to plant in the summer of 2026, in North Kansas City as a strategic hub that can reach the city north of the river, downtown workers and creatives, and Northland families.

aBIDE in the making

Abide Church begins with sowing in prayer and trusting that God is already at work. We’re gathering a called team willing to take bold steps and build genuine relationships. Together, we’re creating a home where people can belong, grow, and experience Jesus.

Praying for the people of Kansas City and the Northland area. Connecting with as many in the community as we can, and spending time building our early launch team.

(Pray that God helps people sell houses and find houses in the Northland, and that all the team that has to move gets here!)

late august 2026 to january 2027

We hit the ground running trying to bless people, build together with the local community, and invite everyone, everywhere to be a part of our launch team.

(Pray that God adds 100 adults to our team this season, brings many salvations, and guides our partnerships with churches as we prepare for our Sunday launch in 2027.)

Late january to february 2027

Lord willing, we will launch our Sunday morning worship service and community groups in early 2027.

(Pray for a great facility in North KC, pray that God builds the church and adds many to the Abide Community, and for us to be a massive blessing to the Northland)
